Think Beyond Plastic
Think Beyond Plastic™ inspires disruptive innovation and advanced entrepreneurship towards the creation of market-based alternatives to disposable plastic products. The Think Beyond Plastic™ Innovation Forum works to incubate and develop ideas that measurably reduce plastic pollution through material, manufacturing, and design innovations. Emerald’s work here has focused on supporting the charitable purpose of the Forum via: Innovation Competition project management. Due diligence on global competition, database management, and applicant engagement. Strategic communications and fundraising for increased media attention and reduced costs. Entrepreneurial support and strategic planning.
Prompted by a case study Emerald executed on the client’s daily operations, this project included a Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory which Emerald conducted. Key aspects of this project include: Analyzing historical data to identify trends and anomalies. Conducting one-on-one interviews with employees to understand business operations and existing sustainability efforts. Collaboratively identifying sustainability opportunities with client for cost-saving strategies.
Stubb’s BBQ is a unique live music venue and barbeque restaurant in Austin, Texas. A nationally recognized institution and stalwart of Austin’s live music scene, Stubb’s has hosted a number of music’s biggest acts while also cooking up some of Texas’ best known BBQ. Artists such as Willie Nelson, Sonic Youth, Snoop Dogg, Erykah Badu, and Black Eyed Peas have rocked out and delighted crowds on Stubb’s outdoor stage, which hosts over 2,000 concertgoers. Emerald is working with Stubb’s BBQ to communicate the company’s existing sustainability practices and identify untapped opportunities for further sustainability strategy through site visits, institutional information gathering, and quantitative analysis. For this project, our team is primarily focused on: Energy Efficiency, Water Systems Management, Rainwater Harvesting, Solid Waste Management, and Sustainability Marketing.
Central Park West Dentistry (CPW Dentistry), a dental practice on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, wants to change the way you feel about going to the dentist by providing expert care, top-notch service, and care on your terms. Founded by Dr. Lhota in 1998, CPW Dentistry provides comprehensive dental services, including cosmetic dentistry, restorative & emergency dentistry, dental implants, and more, serving the New York City area for over 17 years. Looking to implement the office's first corporate eco-strategy, Emerald is closely advising and guiding CPW Dentistry through their sustainable development. Tailored to the organization’s goals and unique vision, our detailed strategy touches on key points that will optimize this small businesses’ energy consumption. Having identified opportunities during an initial sustainability audit and review, the office is implementing energy efficient technologies throughout the office. The strategy allows CPW Dentistry to simultaneously realize cost-savings while reducing their emissions footprint.
